Techcompat Exemption Regulations

Following links contain all the necessary details on the techcompat system:
  • Techcompat Spreadsheet

General Guidelines

  • Players are allowed to freely use any available technology (within the allowed class limit of their ID). Owning factions may pursue InRP consequences for "stolen" technology, but the only regulation enforced concerning server rules is powercore reduction caused by incompatible technology. Flying unapproved technology is not a sanctionable offense.

  • Official factions may grant players/groups 100% powercore access to cells they have in-lore 'ownership' over, or techcells 'owned' by an allied faction in the case that there is no official faction available.

  • In addition, players may make a request on their own behalf for a techcompat exemption with adequate roleplay explaining the acquisition, maintenance, and circumstances of the vessel and/or technology in use, without consulation of an official faction. If the technology is heavily restricted and/or represented by an official faction, the requirements for such an exception being approved may well be higher. Ultimately, all decisions to grant exemptions are at staff discretion.

  • The standard SRP fee does not apply to techexempt requests, however, if approved, the character will receive a shiplock and any future changes to the loadout would require a standard SRP Change Request submitted.

  • Once equipment is approved it stays approved, regardless of what happens in-roleplay or in the personal situation between the involved parties, unless terms and conditions on it are explicitly stated beforehand and agreed by both parties. If appropriate in role play, concerned player(s) can be killed, bountied and/or FR5'ed by faction(s) but the equipment rights remain.

  • Official player factions may conduct diplomacy with other official player factions to open up technology sharing of 'owned' cells. These must be approved as Faction Perk Requests prior to implementation. If the player faction represents the entire NPC faction, then the technology sharing applies to anyone with the NPC faction affiliation, otherwise it only applies to the player faction.

  • Every request will be reviewed before implementation and the staff reserve the right to deny requests with inadequate roleplay. The staff may also revoke permissions from players or strip the right of granting technology from factions as a punitive measure. (No discord deals, mkay?)

Using the Chart

  • To use the techchart, choose your ID in one of the rows, and follow the row across to the column that the ship or weapon that you are interested in belongs to.

  • If a loadout is listed listed as 10% in techcompat, it can be upgraded to 100% via a Techcompat Exception, either by roleplay with the owning official faction(s), or via adequate alternative roleplay and explanation.

  • To determine which faction a ship or weapon belongs to, first read the infocard of the ship/weapon. If the infocard states the faction owner of the technology, then that may be all you need to know. If the infocard does not state faction ownership, then the technology may be considered to "belong" to the owner of any base where the technology is sold, even if that means it "belongs" to multiple factions.

Prepairing a Techexempt Request

  • The character needs to gain InRP permission from owning faction(s) for every non-100% item in their loadout before submitting a request, or have adequate roleplay reasoning to explain the lack of permission / how they are sourcing the technology.

  • Once all the necessary InRP permissions are gained, any of the involved factions can post a techexempt request on behalf of the player, or the player may post the request themselves. If the deal is made with an official faction's permission, and is posted by an individual, the Official Faction should be tagged and an appropriate representative listed to verify.

  • The request needs to include links to all the roleplay relevant to all the approved permissions. If character's loadout at the time of request includes any non-100% item without relevant permissions linked in the request, it will not be processed.

  • If approved, character will receive a shiplock and any future changes to the loadout would require a standard SRP change request.
