Now I know this would be a lot of work, but I can't help but wonder if it would make sense to have an NPC station's IFF written clearly in the F9 infocard. I know we all know the bases by heart for the most part, but I cannot help but recall when a friend of mine started playing a few weeks ago and flew all the way out to Delta to try to dock on Lichtenfelde, and we all can guess how that went. If a station's IFF was plainly indicated on it's F9 info, it could help the new players figure out if they're making a run to a potentially hostile base much more easily.

a base's affiliation can be shown if you hover your mouse on its 3D model for about a second or inferred by reading its infocard

You can also look at 'wireframe view' and it will say the IFF of the base.

Same goes for some solars, it will show the IFF on Wireframe view

Aye that is true, but when the base is 12 jumps away, you could end up investing a lot of time traveling there only to find out right before you arrive that your valuable cargo is selling on a base that wants to shoot you.

Well if you're relying on said external tools, they also tell you what the IFF of the base is...

I know the solutions to the issue myself. Again, I am mostly approaching this from the perspective of someone who just installed the game. If this is a non issue, then that is fine, I just thought I would offer a potentially helpful suggestion.

There is quite a lot of information that we should add to infocards, starting with exact classes, what IDs and techs they are compatible with and other information like empathy or bases of an ID, but keeping all of that up-to-date and in line for all stations and ships and what not is definitely a colossal effort. I'm sure there are some code nerds among the team that would laugh it off with a quick python script, but this definitely takes a lot of effort and maintenance.

Don't feel bad for suggesting that, though. Discovery is overflowing with information and it is easy to not know about certain mechanics and what not. The least we can do, however, is to provide a quick information on where relevant information can be found!
