Let's see if this actually holds up.

If I'm 4K behind you, just out of my CD range, and your only vector that keeps me at range is one towards the system wall, what exactly happens if I chase you until you reach it? Do you get away? If not, what happens?

I can answer this, obviously: you die. Which isn't the same thing as getting away from the fight, really.

That's just because there is a hard limit to how far you can go from the middle of the system. If not for that limitation, you would have no way to stop them. Sometimes you just have to accept that they got away instead of forcing a chase for 500k because you must get the funny blue words at all costs.

Both sides are equally as guilty of being as stubborn as the other in these situations.

Otherwise the runner would accept his death

It's still incredibly poor sportsmanship, though, which is increasingly sad to see in a game whose remaining playerbase dwindles further by the day. This is a primary school style 'both sides are at fault' kind of argument that basically blames the chaser for not just shrugging off bad behaviour and encouraging the guy to come around and do it again.

The only reason to follow someone once they've gotten to a distance where you cannot stop them is because you know it will force them to die by doing so. If that wasn't the case, people wouldn't do it.

Both sides are equally responsible for this happening and both sides are equally as insane for going to this length to avoid/get the kill. People just need to chill out and stop treating this game like it's life or death.

How is the chaser to blame? What if the person just wants to PvP, and the only thing he comes across are duels at first, but said duels turn into these chases? How is that one fair?

You're still ragging on someone for punching back after they get punched first. Anyone who system wall runs should eat a punishment with the hopes that it'll stop them doing it in favour. I just think it's a shame that it's necessary to forcibly discourage people from engaging in bad-faith gameplay, but one look at any aspect of the server -- forums, Discord, or in the game itself -- will show you how poisoned the well is.

If you absolutely loathe the idea of chasing someone that far, then just don't do it. Nobody is forcing you.

If you absolutely loathe the idea of being chased to the system wall when you just wanted to leave, then just stop and let the pursuers kill you. Nobody is forcing you to run either.

Finger poinitng and trying to get people sanctioned achieves nothing but adding to the vitriol and negativity that pervades almost every single aspect of this community already.
