Got this about a week ago and overall I'm pretty satisfied.
Pros: -lightning fast startup/shutdown time. -Solidly built. Don't let the twisting aspect worry you. Does not feel flimsy at all. -Does everything I need - a near perfect complement to my desktop computer. -Speakers are LOUD!
Cons: -Screen rotation upon switching from tablet to laptop can be a little buggy. -Tablet form needs a little work - Some functions when using desktop mode don't work as well as they should i.e. scrolling. Windows 8 apps do work spectacularly in this mode though. -Trackpad is not the greatest in my opinion, but still not bad.
Overall, the positives of this laptop/tablet combo far outweigh its minor bugs/faults.
I really liked how fast this laptop is but after just a couple days I realized its issues. It is super buggy on the touchscreen, it will randomly zoom in and out and scroll around the webpage I'm on. I can't even read a paragraph without it shifting. It has an issue auto-rotating the screen sometimes, and it pretty much doesn't have stylus capability at all. So I'm returning this and buying a different laptop better suited for my needs.
I believe the Thinkpad twist has a defective design or poor quality control during manufacture or assembly.My Thinkpad started freezing up just after the warranty period.I got one "2100: Detection error on HDD0" and other times it would say ":( Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart...."A hardware scan showed no problems.After doing a clean Windows 8 reload the problem remained.I read on some forums that other people had the same issue and that the culprit was the connection between the hard drive connector and the mother board.I took the laptop apart and the connection just seemed a little loose so I cleaned it and re-tightened it.I do not know if that will fix the problem for the short term or the long term but the bottom line is that I have wasted a bunch of time on a issue that should be a non-issue and the laptop may be headed for an electronics recycler soon.
Update 10/15:After working through the last set of issues the S230U simply will not boot up.The red light comes on but there are no other indicators.I cannot express how disappointed I am with Lenovo and this product.I have an ancient IBM Thinkpad T42 that still works!The Lenovos do not appear to be in the same league if they are releasing a substandard products before they are ready for prime time.
