I prefer to use the wiki for information - primarily for ship and weapon stats. The presentation style of the wiki, to me, is far more easy to navigate than FLStat's clustered together rows and columns. Not to mention, it's handy to be able to look up the information on my phone when I'm not at home!
An automatically updating wiki could be a great way to retain newer players. Placing myself in their shoes, if I had access to the same information via an additional software program as I do on a website, I'm going to default to the website simply because I don't have to install anything.
This is why I've helped with some wiki edits myself recently, and I'm tremendously grateful to the others who have pitched in with those efforts. The wiki is nifty!
Back in Nov 2017 when I first started, every time I would PM someone ingame for any Console command help they would say "go to Forums" without a hint to where to look. Finally Skorak gave me a link to Wiki and that is when I stopped PMs to people and got most to all info that I needed as well as some stats on some ships, Jump Drives, Scanner Mods and PoB Commands, etc. It does have it's place for helping people that are just starting out. Keep it and maybe limit it to Pob, Console cmmds and Mod info for New Players. Keep it it as part of the New Players Section.
