*Once opened, the program starts playing a pre-recorded video. A man appears on screen, wearing a white lab coat. Sitting in a luxurious seat, he is looking straight into the camera*
Good day, Miss Beaucoeur! I hope this message finds you well! Following the instructions of our mutual friend, I contact you over this here encrypted, long-range channel. Surely you were informed about the outreach beforehand.
*His serious demeanour changes to a polite smile*
My name is Hans von Goeben, doctor and biomolecular researcher for Medforce Enterprises. I am looking forward to making your acquaintance soon.
*The Rheinlander clears his throat, once more displaying a stern expression*
…anyway, straight to business, shall we? Most recently, said friend mentioned a serious situation on a planet named Apeiron, deep within their domain in the Taus. There, food cultivation and other natural pillars of society are on the brink of collapse, all while an unknown malady is decimating the population. Unfortunately, unborn children appear to be afflicted the most by it. By request of our mutual ally, as well as by my own oath and interest, I gladly declared my expertise and dedication available for combatting this sickness on Apeiron and assist in every way I’m able to. After all, isn't every sentient life worth saving, regardless where and of which nature it is?
*He sighs quietly, before the speech continues*
For this reason, I’ve taken care of some preparations beforehand. My private ship is brimmed with medical and humanitarian supplies. The laboratory and med bays were upgraded with top-notch equipment. Flying with this ship to Apeiron, adequate field research and first response for the local population should be possible.
Despite the multitude of specialists in MedForce, I deemed it appropriate to not involve too many unknown factors in the first step of this mission. With some luck and elbow grease, a solution without thousands of witnesses might be possible. If not, we still may request assistance from outside, or bring samples to the human realm for further analysis. Right now, the organisation is helping indirectly though. Due to authority over my department’s budget, MedForce has generously financed the aforementioned supplies and equipment.
*The doctor chuckles, although bitterly*
…guess we’ll have to economise a bit fo the next quarter. Anyway. Publicising direct cooperation between my employer and our mutual…exotic…friends would result in more than raised eyebrows, as you can imagine. Another reason why I choose to stay incognito, and fly under neutral flag for the duration of the mission.
*For the first time, he stands up. The camera zooms in on his face*
So! Together with fiery ambition, modern analytical and medical methods as well as cooperation between experts on Apeiron, I am confident we will be able to help the colony. And not only treat the symptoms, but to provide a cure! For the time being, the Hasenpfote will be moored to Freeport Six in Tau 29, and I’ll await your response over this channel. Ready on your mark, Miss Beaucoeur!
*With a confident and bright smile, Goeben nods affirmatively before the video ends*
