Backstory and overview
Virginia "Crash" Belle is temperamental, rash and triggerhappy former Hellfire Legion officer. She was born on Planet Houston in Liberty and she comes from relatively poor and disfunctional family. As she has witnessed LPI corruption first hand with several people around her arrested for seemingly no reason, she became slowly dissatisfied with Liberty as the years went on and her social awareness grew.
She became sympathetic towards numerous anti-establishment movements, including Xenos, although she was not radical at that time to even consider joining them and her financial situation did not allow any material support for such movements.
Later she was attracted to the Commonwealth's milder propaganda and joined the Hellfire Legion, quickly adjusting herself to the life of warfare, especially as her fellow combatants were killed or seriously wounded in combat with Outcasts and Liberty Navy.
She gained her "Crash" nickname by her fellow officers when she accidentally crashed her first own ship, HFGB Dahlonega, into the Bison transport ship she was tasked blockading - severely damaging her own ship and crippling the transport in question.
She was later serving as executive officer aboard HFBC Cooperstown before she was handpicked by Commodore Elizabeth White as bridge officer aboard INS North Carolina. There are some rumors circling around this as she was clearly not the best option available for such position, yet she somehow got into favor through unofficial meanswith Rear Admiral. Later, she became effective commanding officer when Rear Admiral Elizabeth White and her staff were gravely injured in action after the bombers strafed battleship's bridge in one of numerous Kansas's skirmishes with Liberty Navy forces, 2-10-828.
As of 25-11-828, due to the bad technical state of INS North Carolina which severely reduces its strategical mobility - Virginia Belle took command of one of its escort vessels, battlecruiser INS Roanoke, to serve her as more versatile and reliable warship for her assignments when INS Dahlonega's guns are not up to task.
30-11-828, Captain Virginia Belle got herself into gunfight on Planet Veracruz and ended up critically wounded, but according to official records - her life was timely saved by medical assistant Grace Snows from INS North Carolina. Due to severity of her injuries and lengthy recovery, she was temporarily replaced by her XO Commander Ben Sheffield at her post.
As late of as 16-02-829, Virginia Belle was seen aboard INS Roanoke once again, discussing future battle plans and other preparations against Liberty Navy and other adversaries with Commander Ben Sheffield.
Her combat record against encroaching Liberty Navy forces was cut short when she met Damien 'Cobra' Morreti, an infamous Xeno Alliance leader, who managed to convince her to leave Liberty Insurgency before it becomes her grave. To increase her chances, she limited herself to mostly INS Roanoke, to where she transferred most of her most loyal crewmen and officers for possibly defection.
As of 23-03-829, INS Roanoke cut off communications with command and disappeared during once of its patrols in California system.
In reality, she staged INS Roanoke's takeover with her new Xeno allies and fled to Fort Ramsey in Ontario. Takeover did not go well as she thought - more crew than anticipated rose against her decision, which led to number of her crew to be thinned down and ship severely damaged, mostly from raging battle inside of the ship.
Before her ship can be brought into the service again, there are some major repairs and modifications to be done first.
However, she has a darker secret around herself - she became addicted to Cardamine during of her first leaves as Hellfire's ensign. While she considers it as a grave mistake as she has to supply herself with the drug for the rest of her life, her addiction also makes her more easier target for blackmailing because of the social stigma carried with Cardamine itself.
To keep her addiction as secret as possible, she uses wristband subdermal Liquid Cardamine injector to supply herself with the drug discreetly and sourcing the Liquid Cardamine capsules from her underworld contact.
Important story characters
Marcus Bell (missing)
Older brother, partner in minor crimes from earlier years, last known to be imprisoned at LPI Sugarland - which served as catalyst for Virginia's radicalization. She was staging his breakout, but turmoil around formation of Liberty Insurgency put a hold on that and she lost track of him due to most of her contacts disappearing and laying low.
Commodore Elizabeth White (deceased)
Former commanding officer of the INS North Carolina and her tutor of some sort. Details of their exact relationship are unknown, but because of Virginia's fast promotion to position of executive officer aboard large capital vessel as battleship, there are some rumors floating around about White's reasons why she did so.
Bob 'Fix' Myles (missing)
Shady freelancing drug dealer, who is getting Liquid Cardamine for Virginia without questions asked, but his unresolved tensions with Junker drug dealers might cause him some problems and may force Virginia to find another supplier in the future.
Grace Snows (nemesis)
Former assistant medical officer in her late forties, lieutenant commander Grace Snows is now current chief medical officer aboard INS North Carolina. Despite her rather innocent name, profession, looks and behavior, she is ruthless and merciless, and does not like Captain Belle at all for various reasons, mainly for her promotion to XO by deceased Commodore White.
When Grace has found out that Virginia Belle is addicted to cardamine, she seized the opportunity to blackmail her and rise through the ranks.
Ben Sheffield (former friend)
Commander Ben Sheffield is former commanding officer of battlecruiser INS Roanoke before he was 'replaced' by Captain Belle, who decided to make battlecruiser as her flagship until INS North Carolina receives proper dry-docking and disassembly, realignment and reassembly of its faulty engine housing.
Unlike Virginia, Ben is stable family man with both wife and children, and serves her well as advisor and even source of common sense. It is mainly thanks to his efforts that atmosphere and cooperation between crewmen and officers are better aboard INS Roanoke than on INS North Carolina.
However, there were major disputes between Virginia Belle and Ben Sheffield during defection to Liberty Free Republic, and as a result - they have ceased to be friends and their journeys split apart.
Contact lists
Damien 'Cobra' Morreti (ally)
Xeno Alliance commander Damien Morreti, also known as Cobra, became one of her the most unlikely allies. They originally met when Virginia Belle was patrolling with her battlecruiser INS Roanoke through Texas' numerous debris fields and sounded alarms for possible combat with her Xeno adversaries.
Instead of battle, however, Damien Morreti noticed her rather fatalistic opinion about Liberty Insurgency and its chances against Liberty Navy. Instead of trying to kill her, he influenced her to chance her opinion and leave the Insurgency altogether.

VESSEL FILE
Name: INS North Carolina Hull number: IBB-13 Former name: HFBS Ignis Purgatio Commissioned: 12-12-823 Status:Not Available
Type: Arbiter-class battleship Role: Support warship/EWAR/auxiliary carrier Affiliation: Battlegroup Inquisition, Liberty Insurgency, Hellfire Legion (formerly) Commanding officer: Captain Peter Stork, Captain Virginia "Crash" Belle (formerly), Commodore Elizabeth White (formerly)
Short overview: Worn out support warship with outdated weaponry, fitted with improved sensors, communications, cloaking device and jump drive. Proper repair and maintenance works pending.
Its misaligned cruise engine is severely limiting its mobility outside of emergency situations, and as such limiting its role to on-demand heavy support vessel and mobile base of operations.
Vessel information
Description:
INS North Carolina, formerly known as HFBS Ignis Purgatio, is an Arbiter-class battleship which saw second-line service within Hellfire Legion till the 827 A.S. when the vessel was critically damaged in Bering System and should spent several months in repairs at Fort Leniex. As the demand for repair facilities grew, vessel's repair schedule was cut short and only critical systems were repaired while the rest was patched by its crew later.
Vessel was re-commissioned back into Battlegroup Inquisition in 828 under command of newly appointed Commodore Elizabeth White, vessel was renamed to INS North Carolina by her to give its libertonian crew patriotic feelings.
After fateful bomber strafe in Kansas 2-10-828, Captain Virginia "Crash" Belle was its CO until 30-11-828 when she was critically wounded on Planet Veracruz. As of 5-12-828, Captain Peter Stork is its current CO.
Technical state:
INS North Carolina has seen its better days, to put it mildly, and several of her non-critical systems are barely functioning and are in dire need of replacement. Same can be said about its worn and dented armor plating, which has been patched more times than officially allowed.
Despite her rugger appearance and discomforts for the crew, the INS North Carolina is known for her critical systems' reliability and redundancy, which allows her to operate regardless of its subpar maintenance and spare parts available.
The vessel's most serious design flaw is misaligned engine housing caused by never fully repaired damage after torpedo strike, which causes serious vibrations through the aft part of the ship when the cruise engine is engaged. As a result, INS North Carolina is authorized to engage its cruise drive only when necessary and is required to perform maintenance check-ups every twelve hours.
Equipment:
As built with its secondary and support roles in mind, INS North Carolina has reduced weapon power capacity in favor of her no-less power hungry auxiliary systems, most noticeably various jammers, extended communication and sensor arrays, cloaking device and its experimental short-ranged jump drive for tactical mobility.
Future plans:
INS North Carolina is awaiting major repairs in the near future, mainly regarding its misaligned engine housing, but also rearmament with more modern Liberty Insurgency guns and more advanced heavy batteries.
Type: Interdictor-class Assault Battlecruiser Role: Heavy Patrol/Support Vessel Affiliation: Liberty Free Republic, Battlegroup Inquisition (formerly), Liberty Insurgency (formerly) Commanding officer: Captain Virginia "Crash" Belle (Acting CO), Commander Fiona Hayes (First XO), Commander William Holmes (Second XO), Commander Ben Sheffield (former XO and CO)
Short overview: Captain Belle's flagship the FRS Roanoke, formerly the INS Roanoke. The ship that she commandeered when changing allegiances. The FRS Roanoke is a versatile platform offering heavy firepower, docking facilities, powerful sensors and cloaking abilities in a compact and nimble package. It is capable of exploiting hidden passages known by the Liberty Free Republic, and thus effectively serves its interests.
Vessel information
Description:
INS Roanoke is one of the few remaining escorts vessels of INS North Carolina assigned to it once Liberty Insurgency was formed. Despite being former Liberty Navy vessel, INS Roanoke has been severly modified with Hellfire Legion technology for logistical purposes.
While Captain Belle originally thought about using cruiser, Archer's lack of hangar bay and power for extensive sensor arrays made her to choose battlecruiser instead.
23-03-829, last known position of INS Roanoke was Cortez System. No information about its CO and crew available.
Technical state:
Suffering from similar supply shortages as INS North Carolina, INS Roanoke's technical state is far from perfect. However, being support and escort vessel for most of its insurgent career, INS Roanoke was never an interesting target for enemies as its flagship and as such - it never suffered that many severe hits like INS North Carolina did.
However, its role as secondary warships also meant that INS Roanoke has been scavenged for parts, and some of its non-critical systems are operating at lower capacity or are outright missing. This can be seen with its replaced primary gunnery directors with backup directors, one third of its original shield arrays are missing or burned out and military grade APUs replaced with industrial ones.
While this makes INS Roanoke more reliable and easier to maintain than INS North Carolina, it also makes it less powerful warship when compared to brand new Interdictors when raw strength is concerned, forcing its CO to choose its engagements carefully.
Equipment:
Most notable departure from standard Interdictor-class cruiser is usage of Hellfire Legion gunnery, sensors and weapon systems. As Hellfire's weapons are bulkier than sleeker naval designs, it gives INS Roanoke its more rugged appearance, especially from inside.
For its role as heavy patrol vessel, INS Roanoke has been fitted with backup sensor arrays from disabled Arbiter-class battleship along with its computer systems for much needed raw sensor and ECCM strength at the cost of increased power consumption.
INS Roanoke features docking bays capable of servicing 12 snubcraft for general operations and 2 freighters for shuttle and SaR duties.
Future plans:
While INS Roanoke's hull and powerplant are sound enough, vessel is in a dire need for replacing several its components with more modern or complete systems. Vessel will need proper targeting directors, newer weapon systems, more compact and advanced computer and sensor systems. Once these upgrades has been done to reduce its power consumption, then its gutted shield generators can be restored to their full capacity.

Name: INS Dahlonega Hull number: CGB-577 Commissioned: 10-01-828 Status:Not Available
Type: Condor-class civilian gunship Role: Captain's yacht/Light patrol gunship Affiliation: Battlegroup Inquisition, Liberty Insurgency Commanding officer: Captain Peter Stork, Captain Virginia "Crash" Belle (formerly)
Short overview: Captain Belle's personal ship, INS Dahlonega is militarized and modified civilian gunship to give it extra punch and even more range at the fraction of running costs and complexity of military vessels.
Vessel information
Description:
INS Dahlonega is named after HFGB Dahlonega, the first vessel which Virginia ever commanded as her own. Unlike her first own vessel, INS Dahlonega is not a pure warship but more like her own personal ship with some military tasks in mind.
Vessel's amenities are capable of housing twelve crewmen and three officers in reasonable comforts for extended periods of time.
After Captain's Belle disappearance, INS Dahlonega was claimed as Captain Stork's personal ship.
Technical state:
Unlike much larger and older INS North Carolina, INS Dahlonega is very well maintained - mostly thanks to its civilian designs, which are easier and cheaper to maintain than pure military vessels. And because it is a civilian hull, availability of spare parts is not an issue as well.
There are some drawbacks, especially lower powerplant and powergrid capacity when compared to the heavy military gunships, which restricts INS Dahlonega from fitting advanced equipment like cloaking devices.
Equipment:
While the hull is mostly untouched barring additions of ablative plating around key system, the main powerplant of the vessel was modified and redlined by engineers to give it extra 7% output to power military weapon systems, enhanced sensors and communication arrays comfortably.
Previous civilian engines were replaced with more compact set of modified Ageira-made engines for longer endurance. That increased vessel's range and allowed it to carry more spare parts and supplies. There is one minor drawback as more compact nature of these engines makes them running hotter than previous ones, which makes working conditions in crawlways and engineering spaces around them more uncomfortable.
Most notable modifications to the vessel is addition of more advanced sensor and communication suites, coupled with installation of military-grade weapons. Vessel is also fitted with one external universal docking point on its belly to allow safe and relatively comfortable access point for the docked snubcraft for both moving personnel between planetary shuttles or recovering pilots from crippled ships.
Future plans:
There are no plans regarding INS Dahlonega as the vessel performs its tasks reliably and there are no known technologies to expand its potential even further at this moment.

PERSONAL GOALS AND "DIPLOMACY"
Personal standing goals:
(Priority) Join Liberty Free Republic movement.
Defend Kansas and Vespucci systems from ongoing Liberty invasion.
Acquire a new reliable drug dealer to cover her needs after the disappearance of her former freelancer supplier, Bob 'Fix' Myles, which will help her to focus on other personal goals without worrying about her addiction much.
Find the whereabouts of her older brother Marcus Bell, who was imprisoned at LPI Sugarland after her contacts went low or disappeared.
Stage a breakout for her brother Marcus Bell at the LPI Sugarlandif he is still imprisoned there.
Plot and stage revenge on Grace Snows.
Opinions on other organizations:
Xenos (one of them)
They were once her allies, then enemies, and now they are her allies again. Even stranger, she is one of them now. There have been some rough edges when her more militaristic behavior clashed with their less rigid structures, and she was involved in many bar fights until all differences and opinions were settled. Now, she feels like one of them, and their less organized nature suits her well.
Bristol(friends)
This small and independent corporation was her unexpected savior when they managed to put her mangled and crippled warship together. As they seem to be well respected by the Xenos, she has little issues with them and even came to their aid on one or two occasions.
Outcasts and their allies (distrustful)
While she never liked their slave and drug trades, they are now too useful to hate. New Outcast-Xeno arrangements made it easier for her to source her drug, but also, the new income made keeping her ship and her crew less tedious. However, she still doesn't trust them or their motives.
Foreigners (distrustful)
Virginia never trusted foreigners; maybe it's a leftover from her younger years of growing up on Planet Houston. Almost everyone has his or her agenda, after all, and it would rarely benefit her own home.
However, unless said foreigners were trespassing into Liberty space with clearly ill intent in mind - like various foreign criminals and pirates - she never had a personal reason to attack them or their property directly.
Liberty Corporations (unfriendly)
Although Liberty corporations are very well responsible for the social issues plaguing Liberty as a whole, she was always ordered by her Hellfire superiors not to open fire at them. This does not mean that she likes them, however, as she would find it very hard not to open fire on middle and high-management assets and personnel if she ever found them at gunpoint.
Aliens and their thralls (enemies)
While there is no personal feeling against them, enthralled humanity and her home are things she will not allow as long as she lives. No mercy expected and no mercy given.
Junkers (enemies)
The Junkers were foes of the Hellfire Legion thanks to their corruptive influence on Liberty society at large, and she still doesn't like them as a Xeno. Only the reasons she doesn't like them changed - now, they are an obstacle in the Xeno conquest of the local black market.
Liberty establishment and LPI (enemies)
There is none other to blame for the poor and difficult conditions she grew up in than the current Liberty establishment and LPI. The former is responsible for the lack of legislation, proper management, and social security, while the latter is causing everyday brutal injustice and exploitation bordering with legalized slavery for fat profits.
These two entities are her primary enemies and targets until they are dissolved or radically changed for the better.
Technocracy (enemies)
Virginia never really trusted Technocrats, but she had to secure a deal with them in the past. When she becomes a fully-fledged Xeno, the Xenos declare war against the Technocracy, thus marking them as enemies for her. Their enigmatic, secretive, and deceptive behavior makes it easier for her to pull the trigger.
