Bretonian Warmongering in the Taus!
Sulawesi Citadel - Tau 44: Substantial Fleet activity has been noted around Crayterian holdings in the deep Taus this week as reports come in of Bretonian war fleets moving in and out of the Orkney System. It has been confirmed there that elements of Her Majesty's fleet have been assaulting Gallic installations without any evidence of correspondence or diplomatic exchange preceeding the malicious attacks. Crayterian peacekeeping vessels have attempted to intervene on multiple attempts but the blind senseless bombardments of the Bretonian war machine seem to continue unabated. Intermittent skirmishes between the outnumbered local Gallic garrisons and the Bretonians have occured with most losses being taken by the Gauls to date.
Just yesterday, the Thanatos-class patrol cruiser FV Hermes intervened and broke up a firefight between the HMS Grandiose, escorting the badly damaged warship back to Tau 31 only to see the Bretonian Invincible-class dreadnought return just hours later to continue their illegal bombardment, this time accompanied by further elements of the Bretonian Armed Forces.
In a statement from the Crayter Military, we are informed the Hermes, though completely outclassed by the most lumbering and heavy warship the Kingdom has a-field, put themselves directly into the line of fire, after repeated dialogue attempts were made to the Grandiose command deck failed and still the bloodthirsty captain ordered their batteries continue firing, inflicting minor damage to the Crayterian vessel before Cpt. Velaryon of the Hermes instructed a prudent withdrawal.
According to sources on-scene, Gaians of a seemingly divergent extremist splinter cult were spotted encouraging the Bretonian assault and offering support to their countrymen in a bizarre twist of fate.
The Ministry of Defense, in a press conference following the incident, repeated the Crayter Republic's commmittment to preventing further conflict in the war-torn Tau Region and condemning the Bretonian Armed Forces actions in Orkney as "warmongering and illegal".

Crayter Mobilizes to Save War Victims
Sabah Shipyard- Coronado: With ongoing conflict between the Separatist Liberty Insurgency and the House militaries of Liberty and Bretonia in nearby Independent World systems, an assortment of Crayterian transport vessels and appropriate escorts assembled today around the mustering zone of Sabah Shipyards at the request of elements of the Battlegroup Veracruz. The conflict has quickly devolved into an absolute humanitarian crisis, and the Insurgency Commander, knowing the altruistic and noble people of the Republic would not turn down fellow refugees, requested the aid of Coronado to help secure the millions of lives at risk.
Ever willing to help those in need, the prompt action of Crayterian leaders sent dozens of transports and escorts out to help relocate the refugees to Yuma, where they will be given temporary housing, rations, medical care, and offered labour incentives with an opportunity towards citizenship or aided in continuing on to their intended destinations with subsidized transportation.
The Defense Ministry said in a statement that their was a "concern of Bretonian interference". This being attributed to unconfirmed reports of elements of the BAF hunting down even civilians fleeing the tragedies of this conflict, however, no Crayterian vessels encountered Bretonian resistance the entire operation was a resounding success with hundreds of lives being saved in the first wave of arrivals.

New Thessalonica- Yuma: With the reinstatement of the embargo of Gallia. The Crayter military has worked nonstop to secure the nations borders as Gallic incursions continue to no fruition of the foreign nations motives. Until possibly now with 3 groups of ships disappearing from almost thin air within Tau-29. All respectively from Crayter, Bretonia, and Kusari. The largest loss belonging to the Kusari Naval Forces of the IKN Akagi, a battlecruiser classed vessel. Leaving all to question what caused this disappearance,
Minister of Defense, Trevor Westbrook, released a statement this morning concerning the matter:
"At this current moment we do not know the cause of the disappearance of the vessels in Tau-29. I assure you we are doing everything we can to investigate and look into this matter. Groups of all three nations have been sent with the purpose of finding the missing ships in question, and to bring the men safely home. We must not show weakness, and to leave an opportunity for those who wish to beset us. We must be strong! In our bonds with each other, and our allies across the stars."
With a gap in the ironclad armor of the blockade. Trade ships now fear for more than their profits, their lives are at stake as well. Traffic flow in and out of Tau-29 has already been observed to be slowed to a halt as everyone holds their breath for a conclusion to be found. Is this what Gallic influence needs to wedge a gap into the Taus? Is this a shadow of another Outcast invasion? Are Crayter's allies as strong as they say they are? Will trade in the Taus be halted altogether?

Election Season Sweeps the Republic
New Thessalonica - Yuma: The political climate of Yuma had been awaiting the beginning of the Republic's election season with particular interest this year, as 830 marks the end of President Fiona Payne's record setting eight years in office. While Crayter law does not forbid her from running for a third independent term, President Payne announced earlier this week that her presidency would end on election day, allowing the climate to shift for the first time since the fall of Tau-44.
Since the end of November, planet-wide news outlets has been focusing on Joshua Ellis, a financier from New Galene who announced his candidacy for the presidency in early October. While far from the only candidate, Ellis has made strong claims regarding the Military's involvement in the Taus, repeatedly approving of force against Gallic vessels in Orkney, applauding the recent destruction of a Gallic proto-installation by the Bretonian Armed Forces, and speaking of the 'abundant and native resources' of the Tau-23 system. Ellis has started the season strong, with a substantial following praising his strong voice and anti-Gallic sentiment, and is expected to be one of the strongest contenders for the presidency.
Of the other candidates for the office, only Jennifer Delaney and Clark McNalen have made any moves in the political sphere.
McNalen, the Director of CDI, has touted the need for military buildup and the expansion of the armed forces, citing the loss of the Hades in late 827 and the imperialist overtures of Bretonia in the Taus. While not as vocal as Ellis, McNalen has also made some appearances, though has noted that his obligations to the workers of Sabah and the Military demand much of his attention.
Delaney, Crayter's Ambassador to the Republic of Liberty, refrained from participating in talks with CNN until the end of January. After the beginning of the election season on February 6th, however, she noted her opposition to the fighting in the Taus, and the need to delegate military matters with the Republic's allies in full, citing Liberty's alienation from any talk on the matter.
While there are certain to be more to throw their hats into the ring, this year's election season is already the most exciting since our peoples' arrival in Sirius. We will keep you up-to-date as the season progresses.

New Hope Governor Announces Presidential Candidacy
New Hope - Pecos: With the beginning of the election season off to a strong start, many had already anticipated that Joshua Ellis, the only candidate so far with considerable backing in the public eye, would simply ride his popularity to election day. This, however, does not appear to be the case, as projected support for Ellis dropped several percentage points following the announcement of candidacy by New Hope Governor Arron Stone. While Stone was not the only candidate that made their announcement yesterday, his declaration now shows that Joshua Ellis will face substantial competition during the season.
Stone, the respected Governor of the Crayter colony of New Hope on Pecos, made rather recent news following a sharp increase in projected organized crime on Pecos. While his reforms are still being implemented, New Hope's populace appears hopeful, as many in Tellus say they held much fear for the gangs that had been rising up in recent months. Stone has shown a deep interest in reforming relations with the IMG, and says that many of his goals revolve around smoothing Crayter's 'jagged foreign policy', though when asked about relations with the neighboring technocrats of Auxesia, Mr. Stone said that such avenues were off the table. Many within the populace have already started backing the New Hope Governor, some diverting from Ellis, whom some feel takes too hard a stance on Crayterian ideals. While Stone has not said much about his strongest opponent, analysts anticipate that the race for president may become considerably toxic.
Still, despite Stone's announcement, Joshua Ellis is still estimated to be a strong candidate for the presidency even in such early days. Despite ravenous foreign public outcry, Ellis appears determined to stay his course, and has planned a gathering to rally support for his campaign set to be held in his home of New Galene next Tuesday. Clark McNalen has announced similar plans, to take place at a public locale in New Thessalonica, the details and time of which he says will be revealed tomorrow afternoon.

Planet Harris. Bread Basket of Taus
Planet Harris: Last week Yuma Ocean Farming Co-operative announced it will be leading a project on Planet Harris in the Tau-31 system to continue the terraforming project of the planet with the objective of making it primarily an agricultural planet. They announced it will be in close co-operation with the house of Bretonia and Kusari to bring food recourses to each respective nation. Yuma Co-op has expressed that they are already planning to make a permanent settlement to conduct operations. Noting a focus on families willing and wanting to move, and start a new live farming.
A board member of Yuma Co-op was interviewed for his notions on the matter.
Q:"You have only just now announced this project, how is it you are already making such grand claims as if it's already half way done?"
A:"Planet Harris has already been partially terraformed by Planetform Inc. under a previous contract between Bretonia and Liberty. We will be able to take that progress already made in that time and capitalize on it greatly to our benefit. It is projected that in the coming decades the recourses produced by our efforts on Harris will be able to provide for Crayter thrice over! We'll be able to provide a future of growth for our nation. Plus that of our neighboring nations."
Q:"Yuma Co-op has expertise in Ocean farming, while Planet Harris is mostly a continental planet. Will the project face trouble in light of being 'out of the water'?"
A:"Yes, the company does show expertise in Ocean farming and hydroponics. Though, we have also done some operations on Planet Borneo that has a closer similarity to that of Harris. So I am sure we'll be up to the task at hand. Be sure to lookout for new information about this new project!"

Arron Stone Announces Campaign Tour
New Thessalonica - Yuma: Following the extension of the candidate pool last month, Governor Arron Stone has announced his plans to conduct a campaign tour throughout both Crayter space and the surrounding territories to rally support from citizens both at home and abroad. Governor Stone says that he had planned to do such a tour later in the season, but felt encroaching rhetoric from fellow candidate Joshua Ellis 'disturb the aims of the campaign'. Ellis, who has made several rallies both on Yuma and at the Crayterian Embassy on Curacao, has also stated his desire to hold a tour of the nation to rally support, but has not disclosed when this would happen or of its certainty.
Intersun Luxury Lines has announced their support for Governor Stone's campaign tour, citing this as the first time a major presidential candidate has opted to utilize their services for both parties' gains. Minister of Defense Trevor Westbrook has also announced that the Crayter Military will provide dedicated defense wings to Governor Stone's planned tour, in light of growing instability in the Taus and northern Bretonia.
Among the notable invitees are Jennifer Delaney, who has announced her support for Governor Stone's candidacy in light of her dwindling polling numbers, and Clark McNalen, who has cited his desire to 'see Stone's policies for himself'. Governor Stone has not elaborated on when he plans to conduct the tour, but has stated that his deadline is before the end of March.

Gallia and Liberty Announce Cessation of Hostilities
Place de la Concorde - New Paris: Many in Crayter were awestruck earlier today when a joint announcement by Gallic and Liberty officials saw the end of organized combat between the two nations. Both nations, who had been locked in a state of war since the Gallic Invasion into Sirius over a decade ago, have reconciled differences, with Gallic Minister of Foreign Affairs Marceau Leanders stating that both houses 'have seen enough death and destruction, and that both houses are now committed to seeing a new era of economic prosperity and forward thinking take place'.
Already, public opinion within the Republic has been polarizing, with many both commending and defaming the development. Lily Ward, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has called it 'a landmark development for peace and stability in Sirius', further citing that Crayter 'stands ready to join both in reviewing paths towards the future'. Governor of Pecos and Presidential Candidate Arron Stone welcomed the news, stating 'Liberty is taking the same steps Crayter did after the Kusari invasion, and while we've stepped back on our efforts, Liberty stands with no ill will going forward'.
On the other side of the pond, large public outcry by many right-leaning Crayterians have seen the news denounced heavily, in particular by Presidential Candidate Joshua Ellis. Mr. Ellis described the announcement as 'Crayter losing yet another ally against the tyranny of the Gallic Menace'. Ellis, who has been campaigning hard to rally Crayterian sentiment towards security in the Taus against Gallia in particular, has announced plans to hold a rally Friday afternoon at the Liberty Embassy on Yuma to further denounce the development, and 'set Liberty back on a path to rational thought'.

Public Uproar after Liberty Operation against Zoners
New Thessalonica - Yuma: As more news reaches the public about Liberty's recent Operation in a hostile "pacification" of Planet Erie, public opinion of Liberty has dropped drastically as protests breakout outside of the Liberty embassy in New Thessalonica. Quorum representatives call the true purpose of the battlecruiser "Yellowstone" into question, and presidential candidate Joshua Ellis once again lead a protest at the embassy gave us his comments outside the embassy.
"Once Liberty got on the planet, they did not discriminate nor truly investigate Insurgency defectors who may not have even been there! They gunned down Zoners and refugees alike! This is a major abuse of force against innocent civilians while Liberty looks to hunt down every last single Insurgent until they can line the heads around the equator of Manhattan! With our involvement of relief efforts in the refugee crisis with Bretonia, Liberty might see us as next! Liberty has no liberty!"
With this public outcry, the Ministry of Defense has issued an official statement by Trevor Westbrook to address the situation,
"The Crayter Republic in under no threat by the Republic of Liberty. Our two nations have no reason for aggression towards each other, and have been standing allies to great result. Though the reason as to why Liberty acted as such against the Zoner colony of planet Erie is unknown at this time. The CIS will be looking into the matter. That is all. For those we left behind."
With this event, analysts predict that Candidate Arron Stone will lose favorability in the upcoming election due to his running partner Jennifer Delaney. Despite their recent publicity tour, her involvement, and possible ties, with the Liberty government bringing her under speculation. Possibly stalling the Stone campaign and give rise to one of their rivals. As Joshua Ellis gains support since the announcement of the Republic Liberty's trade agreement with the Gallic Union.

Aaron Stone Survives Assassination Attempt!
New Thessalonica - Yuma: Presidential Candidate Aaron Stone is currently under medical observation following an attack yesterday at New Thessalonica's Public Events and Culture Centre. Governor Stone, who was holding a small rally to denounce Liberty's recent action in Pennsylvania, as well as provide relief funding for displaced Erie residents, was shaking hands with residents following the main speech, when a lone gunman reportedly pulled a sidearm from their jacket and fired. On-scene security subdued the gunman, who is now in federal custody pending investigation. Authorities have stated that no one else was hurt.
Governor Stone, who has been campaigning hard lately to undo complications following the events in Pennsylvania last month, has received criticism from both sides of the political spectrum for his campaign aims, which involve further cooperation with Crayter's military allies, as well as further cooperation with Liberty to develop Crayter's early trade-lane infrastructure. Many, including bitter rival Joshua Ellis, have denounced his efforts, claiming Stone is 'selling Crayter out to the Great Houses'; Ellis in particular has yet to comment on the attempt on Stone's life, despite numerous officials around him, including his own running mate Edgar Thiel, giving their sympathies for the Governor and his family.
The gunman, identified on-scene and later confirmed as one Blake Hopkins, is a native of New London, and was among those who moved to Yuma following the Royal Navy's assault on Planet New London during the Gallic War. Hopkins is a registered citizen of both Bretonia and Crayter, though not a registered gun owner, and was labeled exempt from mandatory military service on the grounds of psychiatric impairment. It is unclear how he obtained a firearm, or how he was able to retain one past event security. The CIS has stated that they expect details concerning such by the end of the week.
Medical professionals at Olympian Medical Center, nearby the event, have stated that Governor Stone is in stable condition, and will make a full recovery before Crayter's citizens go to the polls next month.
