Little Pooch will oversee the modernization and refit of BC Procyon, and will document the process for future acquisitions of heavy craft for military use. This project is marked as high priority.

Procyon was recently returned to the Legion after her captain made contact with forces in the field. The ship is currently in standby while awaiting dedicated mooring at a berth for proper work to be done. Interior work can still be done until berths are available for exterior work to begin.

First two weeks have been spent largely going over surface-level details. I'm honestly impressed with just how good this thing looks given how long it's been since Duskstorm, and especially where Hewitt says this thing's been. There's a lot less scarring than would be expected, and even the paint in the star on the bow is still pretty vibrant.
Still, there's a lot of room for improvement, and digging just a little reveals a lot of oversights.

Had the crews start with the engineering section; Any problems we fix there will be problems that don't manifest themselves later down the line. Drive core appears operational, and only lack of personnel really prevented this thing from tearing rubber. The shielding units on the other hand are likely going to need a full rework, maybe even a complete cycling of parts. There's heavy corrosion, some boot-up issues; It's a mess.

Final point of contention is the weapon battery hardpoints. The weapons themselves are practically pristine, but the mounting hardpoints are a far cry from when we pulled her from drydock. Maglocks are patchy, electrical mounting fasteners are corroded with all sorts of shit, and I can't even imagine how all of that's effected the underwiring.
Power to the rest of the ship seemed fairly workable. There are a few lights that flicker, but those are likely fluctuations from the shield's wonky power draw. We'll know more once we have more people aboard to engage the drive core to full.

Good news from the weapons decks. Much of the corrosion appears to be largely surface-grade, with no deep rooted damage to the lining. There are some patchy spots, mostly down to some dumbass deciding electrical tape would work on multi-gigawatt power cables, but most appear to be a quick fix. I blame the Zoners that Hewitt brought aboard.

We got some more bodies aboard to give the reactor a full test run, and so far it's better than expected. Not perfect, but very promising.
Power draw it running at a current 11% efficiency loss, compared to statistics from Leniex pre-Duskstorm. I'm almost certain it's down to fuel quality, but other factors like casing strain or just age could be contributing. I have to bear in mind this thing is almost a decade old.

On the engine front, the strain from overthrust is pretty damn evident. I'm not sure what the fuck Hewitt was doing for those three years, but casual jaunts through the Taus blasting thruster reeks of protocol skimming. From what we've logged so far, we'll need a full thruster rework, as well as new lining for the emission bay. I'll also need to go through and check each connection mantle just to be sure, since I've had some of those blow out in a fight, and that shit isn't pretty.

I'll need to talk with Hewitt about who exactly she got her repairs from all that time. At points, I want to congratulate them, and others, I wanna whack their nads with a multi-tool.

Finally got a word in with Hewitt. Turned out long burns through the Taus weren't all these poor thrusters had to endure, as she claims there were some deep recon LSF squads that came after them. It would explain some of the hull patches, but the LSF are usually more proficient with their aim. Maybe they got lucky.
Seems the majority of her repair bills came from a small mooring yard in Provence, which tracks. Knight's goons did make contact with the Unione Corse, as did I a bit during the Fall, but the rest are so far unaccounted for. Even she claims to not remember. I call bullshit.

Regardless, it's an explanation at least, and I'll know where some of the more exotic bits of plating came from when we yank them off.
The thrusters are a complete write off, and short of Leniex opening up and letting me grab from the storage bays, I'll have to requisition some new emitters, flashers, heat-retention plates.. this is gonna be one hell of an overhaul.

Reactor front, the drain definitely seems to be coming from inconsistencies in the lining, which means there's either a leak or there's efficiency buffering just from age. I really don't want to replace the whole reactor. It's not difficult, which is saying something, but it will take a concerted effort, and I'd rather get the girl flight ready at this point.

I'll reach out to Hunt and see what he can spare. Worst case, Procyon tags along with the Livadia expedition, which I was trying to avoid at all costs.

Been a while since I've thrown any weight at this. Been too preoccupied by the grand old girl, haven't even noticed Hewitt's been messaging me over and over again about Procyon.

Left the interior to be done by the new guy, Jameson. Good eye for standard issue, and he's got a good taste in matching color for hall decor. Interior's largely settled, and that church is back to being a boring old chow hall. As it should be.
Nothing too much on the engineering side, but that's mostly me. Teams have taken a better look at the thruster internals, and some parts do seem to be relatively salvageable. Nothing working, obviously, but some components are still usable. It does mean that, short of buying a new thruster system altogether, building a new one is the way to go, and after dealing with Incursus' lattice, I could so with some hardware jobs.

I'll need to acquire some good quality engine components, and maybe some capacitors and alloy shipments. Building on from relative scratch will take time, but so will installing a new pre-built suite, and I can fine-tune one of our own design. Legion's got a history of doing their own handiwork, and I'm no stranger to getting nitty gritty.

I'll have Jameson head out tomorrow to get some pieces. Until now, we'll catalogue what we have and see where we go from there.

Gotta hand it to him, man works quickly. Even got one of the bot squad to lend a hand.

I'll have to steer the Palmdale over to El Alto to nab 'em, but having the supply storage is useful. The rest of the components I can procure from sources aboard the Freeport, which I doubt they'll mind. Haven't heard a complaint yet, even after that wily Junker started causing gripes.

For the work, I'll need to offload some of the schematics from the Incursus. Got plenty of the old data drives from Leniex aboard, and I'm sure one of them has the Sunrise's engineering documents. Older designs, but they'll still slot in perfectly. One thing I can give the Republic praise for, they know how to design with modularity in mind.
Gonna be a bit of time before we actually start the work, though, and I'm sure I'll need plenty of juice.
