Cape Horn Foundry is an independent facility founded and run by MacRory’s Irregulars and it is their main base of operations for their spaceborne activities. The main purpose of the installation is storage and refinement of rare materials, which are then shipped to the buyers. The base is mostly self-sufficient, relying mainly on mining for base resources, which are then converted into the necessary supplies. For this purpose the base has been constructed with the full suite of basic processing facilities, Hydroponic Bay, Scrap Smeltery and MOX Plant.
Foundry's location is not public and the Irregulars plan to keep their base hidden as long as possible, a decision that was unanimously agreed after the events which unfolded around the now destroyed Quantum Outpost.
Exotic Materials Laboratory
This laboratory, supervised by Dr. Pascal Riedel, is one of the two main reasons for Cape’s existence. After some time of evaluating the market, the Irregulars determined the new materials and components available from uncharted systems or by processing military grade salvage have a large potential for profit. The main issue was the goods were, and still are, hard to come by, so the decision was made to gather and refine them in house. The laboratory was built precisely for that purpose to Riedel's speicifications.
The lab is currently used only for reclaiming a usable prototype components from military salvage as a way to test it's operational and security protocols and to make sure the eqiupement and personel are up to Riedel's standards.
Restricted warehouse
The other issue with the rare materials was logistical. It was not always viable to get them ‘on demand’ so a large storage facility, equipped for handling them, was constructed. The warehouse for the rare materials is separate from the general storage areas and is accessible only by the lab personnel and a few select workers. This restriction was put in due to security concerns, both to protect the general crew from any potential harmful effects the exotic materials could have and to better keep track of the materials to prevent potential visitors from ‘borrowing’ them. The warehouse also hosts Brodie's workshob, where he applies his know how to make certain smuggled goods untracable back to Irregulars.
Given the distance of the Foundry from New London, Lachlan decided to provide its crew (and visiting spacers from transport ships) with a top tier bar coupled with a small holo-cinema instead of the usual watering hole these kinds of stations possess. The bar is currently just a rudimentary place while Lachlan hunts for a good designer to design the final look.
Staff
Commander
Samuel Bennett
Samuel is one of the oldest members of the Irregulars, recruited by Lachlan in 830 AS, shortly after the Irregulars were founded. He was the first Irregular who had a job off planet, save for Finnean. Samuel worked as a section overseer on Thames Outpost, where he was in charge of the docks and warehouses so he was uniquely positioned to help smuggle Finnean’s ‘special’ shipments down to New London.
Over the years he built a small smuggling network on the station, but sir Murphy eventually decided to show up, and the station’s authorities caught wind of Samuel’s side hustle. Lachlan helped him disappear and promptly offered him a job as a commander of Cape Horn Foundry, with his first task being overseeing its construction.
Lead engineer
Kayla Evans
Kayla joined the Irregulars rather recently. She was a life support engineer on Waterloo station, a libertonian brought there by her employer, Interspace Commerce. Kayla hated the fact they shipped her all the way from Newark in New York, effectively cutting her off from all her friends and family, but her contract allowed them to do so and she unfortunately needed the money they paid to support her mother’s medical treatment.
Lachlan’s people noticed her soon after she arrived to Waterloo in late 832 AS, and kept tabs on her ever since. She proved to be a skilled and knowledgeable engineer, so when Cryer increased the price of her mother’s medication yet again, to the point when Kayla couldn’t afford it anymore (mostly due to IC’s notorious tendency to undercut salaries), Lachlan stepped in and offered her a job on Cape Horn. Doubling her current salary and the promise to cover the expenses of Kayla’s visit to her mother was enough to convince her to dump Interspace and join up with Irregulars.
Lead scientist
Dr. Pascal Riedel
Pascal is a bit of an enigma. No one, maybe safe for Lachlan (and most doubt even that), knows how did this rheinlandian expert in human - xeno tech adaptation from New Berlin ended up in Cambridge. His name doesn’t appear in any public record before his appearance at one of the universities there, even though he was already a full fledged researcher by that time, with a lot of experience under his belt.
How he came to be employed by Irregulars is a similar mystery, though the general consensus agrees Lachlan had to have his hands in it. Regardless of the reason, Dr. Riedel is in charge of the laboratory on board Cape.
Chief of security
Moira MacNeil
Moira and Finn go way back. They first met over a decade ago when she saved his ass during some hostile raid near New London. One of the bogeys targeted the orbital ferry Finn piloted and Moira’s timely intervention was the only reason Finnean was still in one piece. Back they both worked for BMM, only she was part of BMM’s security fighter wing, while Finn was a glorified taxi driver. Finn asked her out for dinner to thank her, and Moira agreed. They kept in touch during the years, even after both of them left the BMM.
When it became obvious Cape would need some form of security, Finn turned to Moira. Disillusioned by her current work as a Bounty Hunter, she quickly agreed, eager to exchange a life of constant peril for a quieter job.
Quartermaster
Brodie Sinclair
Brodie was part of the Irregular smuggling ring on Thames. Samuel recruited him soon after he himself joined and Brodie turned out to be one of Samuel’s best picks. Competent quartermaster with a knack for creative bookkeeping and forgery, Brodie soon proved his worth to the Irregulars.
Unfortunately for him, when the station’s security came after Samuel, Brodie was caught in the crossfire and detained. Luckily for him Lachlan managed to grease enough hands to secure Brodie’s release and then swiftly ferried him off to Cape, before the police began wondering why he wasn’t handed over to them. Now he makes sure the Foundry’s warehouses are properly stocked and all the goods and supplies catalogued.

Hello Irregulars! I hope you like what we're done with the place. No, not the bar, that place needs a lot of work still, I meant the Cape as a whole. Pretty nifty base eh? Could be even better with your help. As Sam already told you, I'll need a bit of your help turning the bar into something more then just a spare room filled with cables, crates and fridge of booze. I have some ideas but I'll need a lot of stuff from different corners of sirius to make this place really shine. Not in large qualities mind you, so I'd recommend either doing a round trip or taking a freighter for the individual treks. The shopping list will be in the attachement.
The important thing is, don't deliver the stuff to Cape directly. There's been an increase in traffic around here lately, so we're going to use the storage space we rented from the shipping platform once again and I'll make our people shuttle the cargo to the station when the coast is clear. And yes, it'll be a paid gig, I've got some budget to spare.

Greetings Brodie.
This is Matt Kara speaking, captain of the MRI Thracius. While I was checking our internal comms, I saw your post about some stuff required to ''jumpstart'' our new bar. As I'm getting quite bored with the Cordova's bar and their lack of actually drinkable cocktails, I'll do anything I can to speed up our bar's opening. I've dropped some Energy Field Equipment and Nanocapacitors at the platform, feel free to ship them anytime you want.
Cargo manifest is included in the attachment. Matt Kara out.

Hey man! Thanks for the stuff. I wired you the creds, and I put my guys to work, but we still need the Luxuries and the Nanocapacitors for the project I have in mind. Any chance you could bring those around too?

Good day!
I've heard from Finnean that we need some Light Arms for the lucrative deal with Wilson, so I made some deliveries. Unfortunately I couldn't make more trips for Light Arms or the supplies you've requested right off the bat, because I felt worse suddenly. Probably space flu, or maybe a common one. Nothing Cryer's pharma can't heal, but it can take time.

Greetings, Quartermaster. This is Arnold Canterbury speaking.
I have acquired the Luxury Consumer Goods requested and added in something additional from myself. It is true that my entrance to Irregulars was... less than spectacular, but I hope these exquisite delicacies will make up for it somewhat.
Cape Horn Foundry Internal Communication Quartermaster Brodie Sinclair
Hey Arnold! I hope the bosses don't give you hard time. They can be quite demanding at times. The Luxury Consumer goods are much appreciated, you think you could also bring the Optronics? We can't really do much without the complete package. Oh, yeah, the cash has been sent. I threw in a bit extra for the other stuff, you made quite a lot people aboard Cape happy!

Good day!
Decided to take my good old Draugr for a ride to Optronics. Straight from Shinagawa, the best you can find on the open market. No issues whatsoever, although some Navy guy took some interest in me when I was in New York. He didn't inquire about the endpoint though, so I didn't have to employ my admittedly lackluster lying skills. Optronics are already unloaded at Cape Horn.

So that's what the unexpected shipment is! I was scratching my had about that one. I expected those things to be deliverd to Cordova, you know with the way we have to be carefull about supply runs lately. Well, whatever, they are here, and that's what matters, we can finally start working with Kayla on some upgrades. Good job man! Oh... yeah, I sent the cash to Zero, hope you don't mind?
Anyway thanks again, and stop by the End in a week or two, you should deffinitely see the difference!

Good day, Brodie!
Time to finish that contract with Wilson. Zero Space is perfect for that task, so I took her on a short leg through Liberty. Not without incidents though - some young Lane Hacker hotshot tried to extort some money from me in New York, but I managed to buy enough time to send a word to Terren(my mate's brother, who is Lane Hacker), so he would teach this girl a lesson. Hopefully he did already. Anyway - looks like we have the amount of Light Arms we need after my runs.
