Excuse me Saro, but what did you do recently to "make development faster than continental drift"?
I realize there might be some sour grapes between you and the dev team in the past, but considering recent changes I'd say the team is reasonably open for new development, if you can help it get off the ground.
On the account of the Barge, considering the ID limit (and the overall handling of it) is still in place you got a point, it's not going to make much of a dent as a moneysink. Still, it's nice that the option is there, if someone decides to take it.

i tried to balance caps
it took like 2 months for the most BASIC of changes to get actually looked at by the repository gatekeeper, changes i wanted on the test server to test them in a semi-live environment, and which were just pushed to the live server untested instead. absolutely killed any energy i had
I think there's a fix i suggested to Haste in october?september that still hasnt been done. i also quit after that point because to say it was "like pulling teeth" would be an understatement. doesnt take a year to yank a tooth out

How many Type 1/2/3 mount slots
Cruise charge time
etc
15,000,000,000 is a big investment. I'm sure OF and Indies alike want to know exactly what they are getting into when sending a request to buy it.
The basic info-card stat sheet in my eyes isn't enough, especially for the BARGE.
I have edited the Barge Information.

Either way, still nothing to do here. Not much use for barges, even for POB owners. Moneysinks alone are not going to get people playing. Players need something to do with it.
There is a way to get more out of the game world to create 24/7 activity. But the devs either believe things are just fine or don't care that someone or someones are just being anchors on the place. Maybe they should take a loot at the Starport demographics again, this place has become like the other little dead servers that used to be on the selection list with RP 24/7. Pretty sure its at the point where its time to get drastic about changing stuff to compensate, but everyone is afraid and rejecting of what is undoubtedly the most logical thing to do. I've yet to see any comparable suggestions.
If only we had a system that ensured bare minimum changes and minor story development on a regular basis? If only we allowed for epic battles to form naturally where people might actually have a use for a barge, or a use for anything we generate in the form of ships and equipment accessories. The miracle comes in changing the game, then having barges, even at 15 billion, would be a fine addition to the mod.
People are really trying to make this bigger than it is eh? It's not like making this thread destroyed any other development progress the game had going

It is honestly time to stop. You have your idea and are welcome to it and to discuss it where relevant, but have to stop crashing unrelated threads with it.
When Slappy made his Event, months ago, and introduced the Barge which also ended being given as prizes a little bit of nostalgia was brought back in to the Game. Many of the Players presently playing have never seen a flying Barge. It does hold, somewhat, a WOW factor upon first sight.
He then did a second Event after which he auctioned off a Barge.
This ended up with 8 Barges in the Game (some of them not being flown regularly).
I have been approached a few times by people asking how they could get one. Until yesterday the answer was 'There are non available'.
So I approached the Team and asked if it would be a good idea to sell them, to those that would like them. And so, they became available.
I don't understand how making something available, for people to play with, could become such a contentious subject.
You all have the same option as everything else in this Game, buy it or don't buy it. It isn't really rocket science. People are willing to pay 600 million credits for a coloured engine or 900 million for a 'special gun'. Each to their own.
As for understanding why anybody would pay 15 billion for a Ship. Who cares?
We have people who:
Like to be the best PvPer (whether it is Snubs, GBs or Caps).
Building POBs
Trading
Spending all day looking for a fight
Cyber RPing
RPing
Helping others
Talking to friends
and a whole myriad of other reasons.
One or more of the reasons could be why you play, but what you are here for isn't necessarily what others are here for. If you enjoy what you do, why worry what other people do with their time?
If people want to buy a Barge, does it matter if they want it as a keepsake, fly it all day or just use it as storage (it would be cheaper to buy 12 Percherons for about 160 million for the same result)? It is their prerogative.
If you meet one, whilst in space, it can lead to some good RP. They aren't going to run away, so there isn't any need to rush.
As long as you are happy doing your 'thing', it is within the Rules and not at the expense of the rest, then go play the Game.
EDIT: There are now 9 in the Game.
