Discovery 5.0 Hotfix 3
ART
- Changed: Contact list player name font changed.
- Changed: Cruiser Ion Blasters now have a new effect.
- Changed: Fighter and freighter explosion fuses are now more varied.
- Changed: CSV switched to a better cockpit model.
BALANCE
- Added: Gunboat, Cruiser and Battleship Siege Cannons. These weapons are balanced for regular PvP, but will be able to damage PoBs during sieges after a (near) future PoB siege rework.
- Added: A Junker Freighter Engine to the CSF's ship dealer package.
- Added: Junker Freighter Engine now sells on Junker bases.
- Changed: ASMD damage decreased by 20%.
- Changed: ASMFD hull damage decreased by 20%; shield damage increased by 20%.
- Changed: Player Owned Bases health values updated for future siege rework.
- Changed: Outcast Gunship mass slightly increased, agility slightly reduced.
- Changed: 'Light' Fighter Missiles' damage reduced by 10%.
- Changed: Hellfire Rocket Pod damage doubled, ammo increased from 800 to 4000.
- Changed: Scorcher Bombs & Neutralizer Bombs now do 10% more damage.
- Changed: Fighter & Bomber gun power usage formula adjusted to weigh alpha damage and velocity more heavily. In addition, significant dispersion now lowers power usage more than it did before.
- Changed: Mining Drone mining laser price set to 0 so it cannot be sold or transferred.
- Changed: CSF chase & turret view cameras improved.
- Changed: ASMFD Railgun hit points further increased to match other Bomber Heavy Weapons.
ECONOMY
- Added: Synth Paste recipes to Hydroponics Bay. Bonuses for Freelancers, Synth and Zoners.
- Changed: Refined HRCs now sell for at least 3x their base price, rather than 2x, increasing refining profitability.
- Changed: Hydroponics Food Rations recipe bonuses expanded; Freelancers, Bowex, Farmer’s Alliance, Gateway, IDF, Samura.
- Changed: Military Salvage reclamation bonuses expanded; ALG, BMM, Bowex, Bristol, Core, Corsairs, DHC, DSE, EFL, GMS, Hessians, IMG, Junkers, Kishiro, Kruger, Outcasts, Order, RGS, Samura, Zoners.
- Changed: Halved most module construction requirements.
- Changed: Halved most non-CODE equipment manufacturing requirements.
- Changed: Durban no longer resells Light Arms, making it a viable destination.
- Fixed: Profit outliers for extremely short routes.
- Fixed: Molybdenum now behaves like an 'HRC', as intended.
- Fixed: Typos in the economy source file(s) resulting in missing commodity buy/sale points.
- Fixed: A number of errors with manufacturing recipes.
ENCOUNTERS / NPCS
- Changed: Fighter NPC AI has been fixed and improved.
- Changed: NPCs should no longer drop mines while passing other NPCs or players quite as often.
- Changed: NPCs AI updated to encourage mine use in different ways.
- Changed: NPCs are not equipped with railguns as often anymore.
- Changed: Missions NPCs will now use missiles and torpedoes.
- Fixed: NPCs carrying 11 Wasp CD Launchers or 3 Fortress CM Launchers.
- Fixed: Outcast Gunboat NPCs no longer drop 595 H-Fuel.
INFOCARDS
- Changed: Deployable container description now notes that blowing it up allows for tractoring it back in.
- Fixed: Valletta Shipyard mistakenly referred to as Valetta.
- Fixed: Corsica NPCs no longer believe they are actually on Valletta Shipyard.
- Fixed: TREMOR infocard typo.
SYSTEMS
- Added: Wrecks to Sigma-15 debris field.
- Added: Gunboat equipment now sells on Freeport 6.
- Changed: CSV now sells on Rochester. The Bulldog previously sold there now sells on Allentown.
- Changed: IDF, GMS, EFL & Royalists no longer use GNS as their large ship prefix.
- Changed: All Scrap Metal fields in Gallia that were disabled are now enabled.

Is there any chance you ever modified DATA/FONTS/fonts.ini? That file has changed in this patch, so any install-specific modifications will have been lost.

Don't understand this line therefore looking at it with mild concern. Fighter guns now have dispersion and are thus less accurate?
This means that snub guns with dispersion are granted higher efficiency as a consequence. It's a blanket energy usage buff to all fighter guns with dispersion.

On this note, since this hotfix my game will only launch at 3840x2160 (my monitor's native resolution) despite the fact I set launch options to force it to 2560x1440 in multiple places. This combined with the fonts.ini reset has gotten rid of all numbers on the hud. Neither I nor anyone else can figure out why the game insists on launching at 4k rather than at the resolution I specify, however I have found a solution to numbers vanishing from the hud with @Wildkins's help.
IF YOU RUN THE GAME AT A 16:9 RESOLUTION AND DISTANCE NUMBERS/THRUSTER ENERGY/AMMO COUNTS/ETC HAVE VANISHED FROM YOUR HUD, READ THIS:
- Go to your Discovery FONTS folder. In my case, this is C:\Program Files (x86)\Discovery Freelancer\Discovery Freelancer 4.91.0\DATA\FONTS\
[TrueType]
nickname = Normal
font = Agency FB
fixed_height = 0.028000
I have no idea if this works at other resolutions/aspect ratios, but if you have the issue above, feel free to try this. Also feel free to adjust the values a bit -- be careful, as even tiny increments can either seemingly have no effect OR make all the numbers vanish again.

Glad it works for you. Unfortunately hud numbers are still a little on the small side, and the thruster/speed counters are also not centered, so it doesn't look perfect, but it's the best I could do on short notice, and frankly I'm satisfied with it for now. If anyone has a more elegant solution, feel free to share~!
