First of all: player is owner of the account. Character is a character on this account (up to 7 on each account).
Each character can only be part of one Faction. Different characters from one account can be part of different Factions.
Identification, Affiliation and Tag Rules
When a Faction is created, the Leader must select an ID and a corresponding IFF for use on every ship within the Faction, based on the group's primary role and identity. Factions must also choose one unified tag for their ships upon requesting Official Status. *
Each Faction or Group can only use one ID except for official Wild factions.
Official Factions may request their own ID based on the original ID of their NPC faction, to allow for a more specialized line of roleplay or to remove certain restrictions applied to their original ID, which would require Admin approval before implementation. The Faction ID can only be requested if the Official Faction's roleplay as a whole, or the roleplay of a sub-group of the Faction can no longer be played out within the allowances of their original ID.
In case of the Player Faction IDs granted to the Faction as a whole, the approved ID will become the Faction's primary ID and every ship belonging to the Faction should be switched to the new ID, and in case of the Player Faction IDs approved to a sub-group within a Faction, the ID must only be used within the approved sub-group. In both cases, the Official Faction will maintain their Faction rights over the NPC Faction of their IFF.
It is possible for any faction or any group to choose any ID that they like. Including even IDs that already have Official Faction(s) representing them, however, not all IDs or NPC affiliation will grant full Faction rights.
* While your Faction Tag is needed for the Activity Tracker, some groups have members untagged, but flying with the Official Player Faction ID. This is acceptable, and not against the Rules, but will not count towards your Faction's activity. Keep in mind, this only applies to the Tag. If you're tagged as/a member of an OfficialFaction, you're required to use that Faction's ID.
I. Process of making an Unofficial Faction or Group
1. Each Faction has only one Leader. The Leader of the Faction must also assign at least one second in command
2. Leader should choose an ID and IFF that all members of the group will use on their Faction characters.
3. Post your faction idea in the Unofficial Factions and Groups subforum. Ask others about their opinions! This will help you on the next stage.
II. Process of gaining Official Status for a Faction or Group
1. The Faction must be around for a minimum of one month, as an Unofficial Faction, before they can apply for Officialdom.
2. Once the Faction has 3 or more active members, the Faction description, ID status, RP story, Member's List, Diplomatic Relations with all/most other Factions and any other information, regarding the Faction, should be posted in Faction Creation Requests subforum. Your request will be discussed by other Community Members, but only a Server Administrator can approve or disapprove the Faction creation. If the Faction is not approved, reasons will be posted. If the idea didn't come through the first time, you might still get a chance to improve it and get approved.
3. To start the process of approval, the Faction needs to provide the Server Administrators with 5 000 000 credits. The amount will only be refunded if the Faction gains Official Status. Once the process starts, the Faction Tag will also be added to the Faction Activity Tracker.
4. The request will remain open for Three months, and the Faction's performance on the Server and Forums will be reviewed during this period. After this period, the status request will undergo a Dev/Admin/Mod vote and the results will be posted in the request thread.
5. Upon approval of the Official request, the Faction will receive it's own subforum in the Official Faction's Section. Moderation requests for Faction sub-forums should be posted here, by the Faction Leader or his second in command(s), and preferably using the Faction Forum Account. At this point you must also create a Faction Feedback Thread in your Sub-Forum. Official Factions must have an open feedback thread at all times.
6. If a Faction fails in their attempt, then there is a 'cool-down' period of one month before they can re-apply.
