background

With a project to restore some of its former military power well underway, Task Force Prometheus would sooner or later have to strike at the Liberty forces to obtain the data they needed.
While some operations take a more subtle approach, the usual lethal force raid remains one of the most effective and fastest ways to get what you need.

With this in mind, Task Force Prometheus mounts a daring attack on a Liberty convoy that transports vital equipment and parts for repairs and maintenance of their military craft at Ontario system.

It falls to the convoy's escorts and vigilant Navy pilots in the California system to thwart the offence of these seemingly new yet vaguely familiar enemies.

I. "Bison" Class C5 Liberty Transport will carry full cargo of engine components (inrp "Defender" components) from New York system with three escort fighters. After getting halfway to Ontario jump gate from Planet Mojave, the convoy will be caught in an ambush.

II. TFP forces will have R1 "Draugr" Edge Worlds Freighter standing by. "Draugr" will open fire on the engines of the "Bison" and inrp disable it, rendering it helpless. "Draugr" will then fly to the stopped "Bison" transport and deploy military squad to seize the ship. Both freighter and transport will stay still near each other. They will NOT take part in the battle. Escort fighters will enter 3v3 fight with TFP fighters.

III. As soon as the Freighter comes near, the Transport will send an alarm signal to Liberty forces at Planet Los Angeles. At his point they are clear to proceed to the ambush site. At the same time, TFP forces at the Ontario jump hole will move in to reinforce their fellow legionnaires. As soon as both reinforcements arrive, they are clear to engage, making it a 6v6 fight.

IV. Liberty forces' task is to destroy all TFP fighters to be able to help their people aboard the "Bison".

V. TFP forces' task is to destroy all LN fighters to be able to safely escort captured "Bison" with the components to their turf.

- Allowed ships: Heavy Fighters, Very Heavy Fighters

- Both reinforcements are allowed to engage only when their counterparts arrive to the scene

- Event concludes when all fighters from either side have been destroyed or otherwise disqualified

- Sides will have equal numbers. If one of the sides doesn't have enough pilots, some pilots from the other side will have to sit this one out

epilogue

The victory was not easy.

What should have been a quick and decisive strike turned into a protracted battle. Liberty's forces fiercely resisted their attackers, causing the Prometheans to bleed with every step towards their goal, both in space and during boarding.

At certain moments, it almost seemed that success would slip through the fingers of the daring raiders, making them just another line in the report of the vigilant military. And yet they continued to advance, not allowing the formation to break. Ideals and causes clashed, leaving little room for words and doubts.

Ultimately, the surprise attack on the convoy was successful. Having won, the battered Prometheans wrote yet another page in their history. A celebration, rest and repairs awaited them at home.

However, such an attack will surely not go unnoticed. Liberty convoys heading to Ontario would undoubtedly receive larger escorts, making further attacks unlikely. And those who have provoked the wrath of House Liberty may soon discover that retribution will not be long in coming.
